Supporter Steffi
World Prematurity Day is coming up on November 17th and the theme this year is ‘a strong start for a hopeful future’. At PKC, we are sharing stories from our community in the lead up including preemie babies, our wonderful knitters and supporters.
What motivates you to support PKC by buying our merchandise?
While I haven’t personally experienced a NICU stay or had a baby who needed a bit of extra help, some of my close friends have. Having a baby is such a wild ride, and I know that an added layer like a NICU stay can be really tough on whānau. By purchasing PKC merchandise, I feel like I’m playing a small part in helping make that challenging time a little easier and brighter.
What’s your favourite item and why?
Easy — my Peggy Squares mug! It’s honestly the best coffee cup ever, and the colours are just *chef’s kiss*.
How does marking World Prematurity Day make you feel connected to the cause?
It’s so easy to get caught up in day-to-day life and forget to pause and reflect on how far these tiny but mighty babies have come. Marking World Prematurity Day gives me a chance to acknowledge the incredible strength of these little ones and their families — and to reflect on my own journey into parenthood too.
