How can workplaces support Premmie Knitting Club?

We invite you and your colleagues to participate in a knitting initiative to support Premmie Knitting Club. No matter your knitting skills, your contribution will make a significant impact. Here’s how your workplace can participate:

KNITTING DRIVE

Collect donated knitted items from your employees and their friends aand family, organise an office drop off point and run a campaign with a set donation time (eg: one month). The drop off point could be in common areas like kitchens or break rooms.

KNITTING WORKSHOPS

Host on-site or virtual knitting workshops where your team can learn or improve their knitting skills. Experienced knitters can guide beginners, and everyone can contribute to the cause during these sessions.

KNITTING FOR A CAUSE DAY

Organise a ‘Knitting for a Cause Day’ where your team spend part of the day working on knitting projects together, either in the office or virtually. We’ve previously had teams use their company volunteer days for this.

TEAM CHALLENGES

Encourage friendly competition within departments or teams to see which group can knit the most items in a set period or challenge different teams to create a peggy square blanket. You can find details here: Stitching Together Aotearoa

FUNDRAISING FOR PKC

Run a bake sale or a similar event to fundraise for Premmie Knitting Club. Fundraising goals could be to raise money to buy wool for our knitters to knit with or contribute towards hospital equipment that we purchase for neonatal intensive care units.

Payroll Giving

Payroll giving is a great way to regularly donate to PKC through your organisation's payroll system.

Premmie Knitting Club is an approved donee organisation through the Inland Revenue Department.

Payroll giving is a simple process that’s organised through your workplace's payroll team. You chose how much and how often you want to donate. Your chosen donation amount is then deducted from your pay and transferred to Premmie Knitting Club.

You'll receive an immediate tax credit for the payroll giving donation, reducing the PAYE amounts payable. Tax credits are calculated at 33.33 cents for each dollar donated.

Visit the IRD's Payroll giving as an employee page to find out more.

About Premmie Knitting Club

PKC is a registered NZ charity and a virtual tribe of knitters knitting for premature babies and fundraising for preemie related causes. We are an entirely volunteer (and women run) organisation.

Each year, we donate thousands of knitted items to support Aotearoa’s most vulnerable babies in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs), anything from blankets to singlets, cardigans and more, we work directly with the hospitals to understand what is most needed.
