Premmie Knitting Club is part of NZ Post’s Delivering for Good programme.
Delivering for Good plays a vital role in helping us deliver knitted items, blankets and essential resources to premature babies and their whānau in hospitals across Aotearoa. We are very grateful to New Zealand Post for making this possible.
Our process for allocating free postage to our community reflects our commitment to being fair, accessible and sustainable, while staying true to PKC's values of community, education, inclusiveness and compassion.

How we use
Delivering for Good
1. Supporting community groups and schools
If you're knitting as part of a retirement village, school, workplace, community group or other organised group, and can provide the required evidence, you'll be eligible to apply for free postage labels to donate your knitting back.
These groups bring people together, encourage connection, and help grow our volunteer community across Aotearoa. By prioritising free postage for organised groups, we can support more knitters in a range of locations.
2. Supporting hospitals across Aotearoa
We use free postage to deliver knitting to hospitals.
This nationwide movement of knitting is one of the most important parts of our mahi. The grant helps ensure every regional hospital, no matter how remote, continues to receive the blankets, clothing and other handmade items their tiniest patients and families need.
Delivering for Good also enables us to keep our nationwide peggy square blanket-sewing network running, allowing squares to be sent to volunteer stitchers across the country before being made into blankets and distributed, along with other knitted items, to neonatal units and hospitals throughout Aotearoa.
3. Growing our drop-off network
We're encouraging individual knitters to make the most of our growing network of local drop-off points. We're continually expanding our list of drop-off locations throughout New Zealand.

If you know of a local business, organisation or community space that would be willing to become a collection point, we'd love to hear from you.
Each drop-off coordinator will be provided with postage labels, allowing knitting donations to be sent to us efficiently.

PKC’s free postage criteria for 2026/2027
To ensure our limited allocation of free postage labels is distributed fairly and equitably, the following eligibility criteria apply:
Free postage labels are primarily allocated to community groups and schools (this includes retirement villages and workplaces). Supporting evidence of group or school affiliation is required.
All postage labels will be issued by email.
Individual knitters are encouraged to send parcels using PKC's PO Box where possible.
Requests from individual knitters for free postage labels will be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to availability.
Priority will be given to regular PKC knitters who make ongoing contributions to our charity.
