Volunteer Administration Coordinator

3–6 Month Volunteer Opportunity

Help us keep the wheels turning while our newest PKC babies arrive

At Premmie Knitting Club, everything we do is powered by volunteers, donors and an incredible community of people who believe that small acts of kindness can make a big difference during a family's most challenging moments.

With two of our board members preparing for parental leave, we're seeking a volunteer Administration Coordinator to provide additional support for a period of 3-6 months.

Important Information

Our current board members will remain in their governance roles during their parental leave period. However, some of the day-to-day administrative tasks they currently undertake will need additional support, creating an opportunity for a volunteer to help keep Premmie Knitting Club running smoothly.

The Opportunity

This is a flexible, fully remote volunteer role that can be completed from anywhere in New Zealand.

We're looking for someone who enjoys organisation, administration and helping others. You'll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our charity and ensuring our volunteers, donors and community members continue to have a positive experience.

Commitment: Up to 10 hours per month
Duration: 3-6 months
Location: Remote (New Zealand)
Remuneration: Volunteer position (unpaid)

Key Responsibilities

The successful volunteer will assist with:

  • Managing and responding to general email enquiries

  • Generating and distributing postage labels

  • Supporting engagement across our social media channels

  • Assisting with volunteer communications

  • Maintaining simple administrative records and spreadsheets

  • Providing ad hoc administrative support as required

  • Using simple pre-prepared design templates to create or update basic social media and volunteer communications

Bonus Opportunity for Auckland-Based Volunteers

If you're Auckland-based and interested, there may be occasional opportunities to assist with sorting and packing donated knitting.

This would be arranged at a mutually convenient time and is entirely optional. Volunteers from outside Auckland are encouraged to apply, as this is not a requirement of the role.

About You

You don't need previous charity experience, but we'd love to hear from people who:

  • Are organised and detail-oriented

  • Have strong written communication skills

  • Can work independently and manage their own time

  • Are comfortable using email, spreadsheets and online systems

  • Are reliable and responsive

  • Have a genuine interest in supporting families of premature babies

What You'll Gain

By joining our working volunteer team, you'll:

  • Make a meaningful contribution to a charity supporting families of premature babies across New Zealand

  • Develop experience working with a volunteer-led organisation

  • Build skills in administration, communications and community engagement

  • Work alongside a passionate and supportive team

  • Have the flexibility to volunteer around your existing commitments

How to Apply

To express your interest, please fill out the form below telling us:

  • A short introduction about yourself

  • A summary of your relevant experience

  • Why you'd like to volunteer with Premmie Knitting Club

  • Any skills or experience you feel could contribute to the role

Applications will be reviewed as they are received.
