From fundraising to impact
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we have raised $25,000 to purchase essential equipment for neonatal units across Aotearoa. And we're delighted to share one of the ways that fundraising is already making a difference.
With the support of our PKC community, 10 new Unimom Forte automatic breast pumps have now been delivered to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Wellington Hospital.
Your generosity making a difference in Wellington NICU
In a lovely letter to PKC, Rosemary Escott, Charge Nurse Manager, confirmed that all 10 pumps are now up and running, being used by parents to provide essential nourishment for their premature and sick babies.
For babies born too early or who are too unwell to feed themselves, their parent’s milk is an incredibly important part of their care. These breast pumps help make that possible, supporting parents to provide the milk their little ones need to grow and thrive.
The Unimom pumps are effective, easy-to-use pieces of equipment, but they also represent a significant investment. As Rosemary explained, the unit would not have been able to purchase them without the support of our community.
That's where you come in.
Every donation and contribution from our wonderful PKC supporters has helped make this purchase possible. What might seem like a small contribution on its own has come together to provide something genuinely valuable for whanau navigating the challenges of having a baby in neonatal care.
Rosemary also shared her thanks for the hard work and creativity that went into fundraising for the pumps, and for PKC's consistent, ongoing support of the unit. She asked us to extend her sincere gratitude to everyone in our club who helped make this project happen.
To our PKC community: thank you.
Ten breast pumps are now making a difference for Wellington whānau, and that's something we can all feel incredibly proud of.
We're incredibly proud to be able to support neonatal units with practical, much-needed equipment that makes a real difference to babies, parents and the healthcare teams caring for them.
Whether you knit, donate, fundraise, volunteer, spread the word or support PKC in other ways, you're part of what makes this possible. Your generosity is helping us turn fundraising into meaningful impact for hospitals across Aotearoa.
Thank you for being part of it.
We can't wait to share the stories from the other hospitals we’re supporting with you.
