How long has Betty been knitting?
An incredible 95 years — Betty started knitting at just four years old.
What first inspired Betty to start knitting for Premmie Knitting Club?
Betty has always loved knitting for charity and was delighted to get involved while staying with family for a couple of weeks.
What's Betty's favourite item to knit? Why that one?
At the moment, Betty especially enjoys knitting woollen hats and booties for premature babies — along with Peggy Squares. She always has a project on the go.
What keeps Betty coming back to knit again and again?
Betty loves keeping busy and creative. She has long knitted for her large family — from winter woollies to well-loved cotton dishcloths — and continues to knit to keep her fingers moving, even as arthritis has slowed her down in recent years.
If Betty could say one thing to the families receiving her knits, what would it be?
Betty hopes families enjoy what she has made and simply loves being able to share with others.
Tea, coffee, or something stronger while Betty knits?
Tea — always.
